About the Project
This case study highlights the successful completion of a refurbishment project at Victoria Hospital in Wimborne.
The project involved renovating XRAY rooms 1 & 2, the roof space above, and making alterations to the associated waiting area.
XRAY Rooms 1 & 2: Refurbishing the XRAY rooms, included the installation of new vinyl coverings, ceilings, partitions, and door sets. The existing disabled toilet was also re-sited to optimize space and accessibility.
Structural Changes: The project required the installation of new steels to reinforce structural modifications. These changes were crucial for ensuring the stability and safety of the renovated areas.
Lead-Lined Installations: RayBloc, a specialist company, was appointed to install lead-lined items such as screens, walling, and doors. This essential measure provides radiation protection and enhances the safety of both patients and medical staff.
Mechanical Systems: Works on the existing Air Handling Unit (AHU) unit and distribution boards. These upgrades ensured the proper functioning of the ventilation and electrical systems within the refurbished areas.
Decoration and Cleaning: The project was completed once the rooms were fully decorated and cleaned, ensuring they were in pristine condition for the trust to install specialist XRAY equipment by AGFA and Medway.
To celebrate the completion of the refurbished radiology unit, Victoria Hospital organised a grand reopening event. The occasion was honoured by the presence of esteemed guests, including former football manager Harry Redknapp and the Mayor of Wimborne, Diann March. Their attendance added prestige and excitement to the event, making it truly memorable.
